This year Cancon runs on Friday 27th Jan to Sunday 29th Jan. For most of us that means driving up on Australia Day (yes that’s the 26th) and driving home on Monday the 30th.

The New Phyrexia Atogatog will be on Sunday 12th June at Michael and Chelsea’s place as I will still be in the process of shifting to our new house.
Games start at 12.00 sharp. Feel free to roll along from 10.30 onwards to start cracking packs and building decks.
It will cost around $30 as usual and I will likely be selling some cheap packs at the end. As usual you’ll get 6 packs and we’ll play 5 rounds to determine the champion.
Please let me know at least a week in advance if you are coming so I can organise all the packs.

Here is a deck I brewed up for standard, it’s very similar to Caw-Go with a slight change in the Planeswalker numbers and equipment. This deck plays less of a control game but can fit that role nicely (even more so after side) if necessary, what I like about it is it can be very aggressive with piston sledge and stoneforge mystic (attacking 4/3 on turn 3) the sledge is rarely dead with cards like Stag, Venser and Sun Titan.
So there’s my defence for the stupid goblin hammer but I’d love to know what you think.

So after the success of Cancon this year….and the likelyhood of returning I decided to create a “Best/Worst of Cancon” award.
The idea behind this is that someone does exceedingly well or failing that has an extremely bad weekend then they will get to brag about or be haunted by it for the rest of the year.
So I plan on getting everyone to vote, tallying the results and then presenting the award to Matt.
….and yes the trophy was made using those Meddling Mages!

I have managed to score a box of faction packs so each player will get 3 faction packs and 3 normal packs with which to make decks and will be battling for 5 rounds to determine the champion. If I don’t get an even split of people wanting to play each faction I will randomly determine them instead…or go with first in first choice….
