Red aggro decks
By Steve Tuck, on April 28th at 4:39 pmI’ve been working on a red aggro deck because I think kiln fiend is absolutely insane, especially when using spells with rebound.

The Eldrazi have risen!
The Rise of the Eldrazi Atogatog will be on Sunday 9th May at my place as usual. Games start at 12.00 sharp. Feel free to roll along from 10.30 onwards to start cracking packs and building decks.
It will cost around $30-$35 as usual and I will likely be selling some cheap packs at the end. For Rise of the Eldrazi we will each receive 6 boosters with which to make decks and will be battling for 5 rounds to determine the champion.
Please let me know at least a week in advance if you are coming so I can organise all the packs.
Confirmed:
Scott is in need of two Glimpse of Nature for the PTQ on sunday. His deck doesn’t work without so it’s kinda a big deal..
Ok, so I have this janky mono-white goats deck that I’m thinking of taking to the PTQ but I think it needs some (reads: alot) of work. So here’s the list that I have at the moment.
[cardlist][Lands]
16 Plains
2 Springjack Pasture
1 Kabira Crossroads
[/Lands]
[Creatures]
3 Swans of Bryn Argoll
2 Plumeveil
2 Mesa Enchantress

1 Wrath of God
1 Prison Term
1 Wheel of Sun and Moon
1 Pacifism
1 Greater Auramancy
1 Otherworldly Journey
1 High Ground
[/Spells][/cardlist]
The basic idea of this deck is to lay out as many white mana symbols onto the board as possible, and basically stalling the board until you land a shepherd and creature heaps of goats and mirrorweave into Swans, pump with Ajani and smash or Armored Ascension a goat and smash face while laughing your self stupid; land a sigil and creature an army of 4/4 Angels; or until you mill your opponent.
Deck interactions:
This deck has some fun (and useful interactions) that I’ll quickly mention here just so you all can see where I’m coming from with these selections.
Pariah and either Cho-Manno, Revolutionary or Swans of Bryn Argoll:
I’m not really a fan of taking damage, so these little combos make me quite happy. The pariah with cho-manna is a bit of an old one, and doesn’t really do anything more prevent damage, but Pariah on the Swans can make for a very milltastic day (especially against decks with no hard removal)
Wheel of Sun and Moon and Sword of The Meek, Thopter Foundry combo:
Enchant opponent, sword of the meek hits there graveyard, back in the deck == no combo 🙂
Those are just 2 little ones that I can think of at the moment.
Either way, any help making this a stronger deck will greatly appreciated (and if anyone happens to have any cards that they could lend, I wont say no to the help :P)
I’m looking at 2 possible decks for extented outside of Thepths. If you can tell me how to hyperlink the cards i’ll do it when i get a chance. otherwise here are the decklists

Chelsea is out Friday evening (13th), but I will be holding a Zendikar draft. Start time will be 7:00pm. Please let me know below or by phone if you’re planning to come.
Also, don’t forget there is a Pro Tour Qualifier on Sunday in the city:
PTQ San Diego. 9am rego. Zendikar Sealed. $40 Melbourne High School.
The land is falling!
4 Noble Hierarch / Birds of Paradise
4 Lotus Cobra
4 Sigil Captain
4 Emeria Angel
4 Rampaging Baloths
4 Khalni Heart Expedition
4 Harrow
4 Conquerors Pledge
4 Overrun
This is a little chancy and a bit vulnerable. Having said that though it can produce 12 3/3 tokens on turn 4 (6 of them at instant speed) – which seems like just enough.
You can splash red for Goblin Bushwhacker to make it quicker and I’d probably play Summoners Trap in the side board. Also considering that you can play up to 16 sac lands and are running Khalni’s and Harrow, you will probably be drawing spells for the rest of the game (if it continues).
Open to feed back.
.
Hey, I had to record this somewhere as a some of you are out of the country (business my arse).
But I’m exited by the fact that with the Zendikar cards that have been spoiled we can have 6 mana of any (or all) colour by turn 3. Does anyone want to guess how? Hint: There is a hint already on this site..
So, I’ve been tinkering with Merfolk as a standard deck for the last month or so. I was having a fair amount of success with my U/W/B Reveillark deck prior to the M10 rotation until the deck lost Wrath of God, Windborn Muse and a couple of other cards. It was really having trouble beating aggro decks when the Wrath-like effect had to be a turn later. I liked the idea of Merfolk because it could play an aggro game backed up by counter magic, thereby making it a seemingly better choice than say Kithkin. Basically Merfolk gives more opportunity to out-play the opponent than most aggressive decks. Anyway, Steve Tuck and I have been working on the deck and playtesting it intermittently over the last few weeks, concluding with some testing on Friday evening.
Saturday morning saw Damien and I driving into the city to try our chances at winning an invite to the next Pro Tour. The tournament was at Good Games in Melbourne and 80 hopeful players turned up. Below is the final list I played on the day. It’s slightly different even to the final version we had on Friday — for some reason I made a snap decision while registering my deck to replace Ethersworn Canonist and Sleep in my sideboard with Meddling Mage and Glen Elendra Archmage. This turned out to be lucky as both of these were useful sideboard cards on the day.
The new base set M10 released soon.
On Sunday 26th July I will be hosting a Two Headed Giant Atogatog.
M10 brings not only some new cards and the return of old favourites, but also some very significant rules changes!
Teams can be organised before the day, but will be finalised on the when we know all players who are coming.
Each team will receive 8 packs with which to build two 40 card decks. Arguments over who gets what card to be held after the event :D.
Feel free to arrive from 10.30 onwards. Packs can be opened when your teammate arrives. Games to start at 12.00.
We will play either 4 or 5 rounds depending on the number of players.
As usual there will be packs for sale at the end of the day.
