Draft next Friday (and Draft Day idea)

By Michael Wybrow,  on May 24th 2008 at 11:15 am

Chelsea and I will be hosting a draft on next Friday evening at our place. Post below if you’d like to come.

Also, who has Queen’s Birthday holiday (Monday 9th June) off work? Because Steve and I were discussing having a draft day at some point. You would likely come to our house for the day, starting at 9am. We would play three three-round drafts. They would probably be Kamigawa block, Ravnica block and Time Spiral block. For these sets, cost to play for the whole day would be $29–30. People interested in this?.

High Winds in Melbourne = Drafts!

By Michael Wybrow,  on April 2nd 2008 at 4:42 pm

So windy… can’t get drafts out of my head!

First, I was going to suggest drafting on this Saturday night. But Chelsea is apparently going to be out at a Hen’s night, and would be sad to miss drafting (plus, I’d left it a bit late to notify you guys). Therefore I’m going to suggest a draft next Saturday evening instead.

As for this Saturday evening, I might be all lonely at home by myself, building decks, unless anyone wants to join me and play some casual games. Of course, if there was enough interest I wouldn’t be opposed to opening some packs, passing them in a circle, building decks and playing some games. 😉.

Possible older cards for your MTG collection

By Daniel Bird,  on March 31st 2008 at 12:28 pm

Hi All

Ive just got back from Tassie, and a guy i know down there is selling off his MTG collection. Impressively he has stuff going back to the Alpha and Beta editions (He showed me two Alpha/Beta edition Serra Angels!). He said he’ll try to sell his rares on ebay, but has no idea what to do with the commons/uncommons of which he has several hundred. He asked me if i had any mates who would be interested in buying them, and i told him possibly there were some guys in Melbourne who would be interested in collecting some older stuff like that. He said he’d agree with whatever price i/they came up with. Unfortunately, he hasnt catalogued what he has, but if anyone is seriously interested, im sure he would do that. He just needs to get rid of them since he doesnt play anymore, plus he has young kids which like to chew on them!

Anyway, let me know if youre interested
Cheers, Dan.

Good Friday to play Magic

By Michael Wybrow,  on March 16th 2008 at 4:22 pm

Chelsea and I will be hosting a Magic day at our place on this Friday, Good Friday public holiday, all day from 10am onwards. Please join us for whatever part of the day you can. Bring some casual Standard decks and some money, lands and sleeves for drafting. Depending on numbers and the times of day people are around, we could do a couple of drafts, or a draft and some casual play, two-headed giant, etc. Please let us know if you can come and times you’ll be here for. We’ll probably have a BBQ lunch/dinner..

Let’s Draft

By Michael Wybrow,  on March 10th 2008 at 8:47 pm

Chelsea and I will be hosting a draft on this Saturday evening at our place. Post below if you’d like to come.

It will likely be Lorwyn-Lorwyn-Morningtide at $13 if everyone is happy with that.

Also, I’m thinking of having a draft day as part of the long Easter weekend. Probably thinking Friday (or maybe Tuesday). We could either do a couple of drafts, or a draft and some casual games, and maybe a BBQ in the evening. Reply below if you’re interested in this and are free over the Easter weekend..

(non-Magic) BBQ this Saturday

By Michael Wybrow,  on March 4th 2008 at 9:42 am

My friend Antony is kindly hosting a BBQ on Saturday evening as a little celebration for me finally being free of last years stress of completing my PhD. The BBQ is an informal affair, from 5pm onwards. It will be held at 1 Hillside Grove Frankston, and will be BYO drinks. I realise this is a bit of travel for lots of you, but if you don’t have any other plans for Saturday we’d love to see you there. If you’re interested, please let me know by Thursday morning, for catering purposes.

Magic related activities will commence again shortly… I was sick with the flu last weekend and I heard (cold) drafts are not good for people with the flu..
